Cake ltration analysis—the e#ect of the relationship between the pore liquid pressure and the cake compressive stress

The relationship between the pore liquid pressure (pL) and the cake compressive stress (ps) is required in analyzing cake ltration. This relationship (for the one-dimensional case) is commonly assumed to be dpL+dps =0 although similar but di#erent ones may also be advanced from the multiphase 9ow theory. The e#ect of these di#erent expressions is studied by examining the correspondence between cake ltration data and the compression–permeation cell measurements of two speci c systems. ? 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
